Development Update

IT'S REALLY DONE!

Further testing has been done, and I fixed the problem with the gantt chart showing irrelevant machines and ops. I have finished the gantt charts, and I'm quite happy with the end product. The gantt chart is very easy to use, and you can modify an operation using the chart very simply. The Overview window has been cleaned up, as have many parts of the interface. If you are happy with it, and can't see any significant problems then go ahead and use it for production.

I have made the design decision that for every 15 mins, a bar will increase in length by 1 pixel, this will allow a whole week to be shown without any need for scrolling the window (the whole week mon-sun will be viewable at the same time).A date component has been included for selecting a specific week, but the current week will be displayed by default.

Version 0.8

Changes Made:

from last version supplied to you via CD I have made the following changes:

Installation Instructions:

Due to previous problems I recommend doing the following to ensure the current version is tested correctly

  1. Before Installing. Remove potentially erroneous files. Note by doing this you will lose any scheduled data. However machines added and default hours will remain
    1. Go to: C:\temp . You can type this into the explorer window and press return
    2. Create a new folder with the name: backup_ ending with the current date
    3. sort files by type
    4. Move the following files to the new backup folder:
      • alt_machine.csv
      • last_op_hrs.csv
      • mach_avail.csv
      • table5.csv
    5. Keep the following files:
      • default_hours.csv
      • machines.csv
    6. Move any remaining files ending .csv to the backup folder
    7. Make sure the moved files ONLY exist in the backup folder, not in C:\temp
  2. Download the latest version
  3. Uninstall previous version
  4. Unzip downloaded file and run 'Setup.exe'
  5. install the new version, only when it gives you the location to install make sure you delete the 'Default Company Name' bit so it reads: c:\program files\install_schedule\.
  6. change the selection from 'Just me' to 'Everyone'
  7. finish the install.
  8. Click the existing link on your desktop OR go to the installation folder and run schedule_final.exe

If all went well you should now be able to test the new features

Use new feature: Machine Specific Jobs

  1. Click the Table Schedule Tab
  2. Click button: View By Machine
  3. To filter the print view by machine, select the required machines from the selection boxes
  4. Click Print Preview
  5. You can now print using Internet Explorer, remember to change the page layout to landscape before printing.
